Something I've been making as of late. Some folks asked for one in comments and in flickermail, so here you go. Best viewed in the Slidehow...

I use pearl cotton AKA "craft thread", you can find it next to the embroidery floss, and also can buy 24 or 36 skein bags of many colors for like $4-5 at michaels, which is cheaper than the $1.35 a (bigger) skein costs otherwise.

You can decorate with trim or beads (I don't because i rather like them more grippable), but I wouldn't use beads on top, the pins might catch on them. What good is a pincushion if you can't put a pin in it?

Overall these take 15 min or less to make, time well spent and as much as I hate to say it, cute as a button!

Shot this with a 2003 Minolta S414, if anyone is curious. Me loves me macro!

Bottlecap Pincushion tutorial round out finished all you need Cut a rectangle to size wrap cap pin to hold pop in the bottom pin to keep from moving and whip on bottom view whip shut drawstring a round piece Draw shut partially STUFF IT! pull tight Done Put in cap Tah dah! Put in sleeve Tug it up tight stitch it on Done back view when done snake in to the middle start decorating PICT0075.JPG come out at the bottom clip off close Tah Dah! Stick a pin in it - it's done!
